Pulse by Prudential Wins Mobile App of the Year Award at Insurance Asia Awards 2021
Bangkok, Thailand, 16 August 2021 – Prudential Life Assurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited (Prudential Thailand) is pleased to announce that its all-in-one digital health and wellness application - Pulse by Prudential (Pulse) – was named Mobile Application of the Year at the Insurance Asia Awards 2021 ceremony on 12 August 2021.
To help Thai society better take charge of their health and wellness, Prudential Thailand launched Pulse in March 2020 as an AI-powered mobile application with the primary goal of making healthcare affordable and accessible for all Thai people. Various feedbacks were received from the judging panel including how Pulse has provided access to virtual healthcare with a number of useful features and articles especially during this time of the pandemic where people are staying at home.
Mrs. Jennifer Villalobos, Chief Digital and Technology Officer of Prudential Thailand, said, "Prudential Thailand is proud to be the first insurer in Thailand to win the Mobile App of the Year award. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic means that living a healthier lifestyle is more important than ever before. Prudential Thailand's award-winning Pulse by Prudential application was designed to help people protect their health, as well as prevent and postpone the onset of diseases."
The award for Pulse by Prudential, which has achieved over 2.7 million downloads nationwide, comes at a time when Thailand is facing an emerging public health crisis of epic proportions. The country is rapidly ageing with 20% of the total population of 69 million Thai people reaching the age of over 60, leading to an increased prevalence of chronic disease. *
Obesity has also become a growing public health concern as Thailand's youth are exposed to increasingly unhealthy diets. Thailand’s obesity rate has continued to rise each year, increasing from 11.8% in 2018 to 12.8% in 2020. **
Pulse by Prudential is the first-of-its-kind digital health and wellness application in the region, leverages cutting-edge technology and AI capability to provide holistic health management services and latest health content and news to its users. The app comprises AI-powered health features such as Symptom Checker, an AI-powered chatbot that provides users a better understanding of worrying symptoms and directs them when best to seek further advice from healthcare professionals; Healthcheck, which creates a health report and offers insights into potential long-term disease risks represented through the “Digital Twin”, a graphic representation of the human body broken down by organ, based on the user’s inputs to a digital questionnaire; as well as additional features such as the BMI Recorder, Digital Twin and Hospital Finder, among many others.
Pulse by Prudential has also played an active role in helping Thais cope with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand. In June 2020, Prudential partnered with AIS, Thailand’s leading telecommunication operator to offer free 60-days COVID-19 coverage for up to one million AIS customers through the Pulse app. Pulse has also partnered with The 1, Thailand’s largest loyalty platform with over 17 million members, to provide free COVID-19 coverages for The 1 customers.
The ambition for Pulse by Prudential is to not only help users manage their health, but to also play a key role in helping them get appropriate health advice through the addition of a teleconsultation feature. Teleconsultation will enable users to schedule an online video/audio call anywhere with a board-certified doctor. The doctor will conclude a diagnosis and recommend the appropriate treatment (whenever applicable). Pulse users will also receive medical prescriptions via the application.
Prudential Thailand goes beyond the provision of protection to offer holistic health and wellness services, helping people prevent and postpone the onset of diseases. We do this through our Pulse app, and a comprehensive range of best-in-class solutions and services to help people live well for longer.
